Session 13
Near the end of the Term2 course, we have learned and practiced making the various types of pages that should appear in a magazine, and this course showed us how some famous magazine publishers make their covers and some of the common image manipulations used for cover design. For example, the cover of I-D magazine features a smiley face, the cover of W magazine features a large cover with a flashy pose, and the cover of Dazed is more of a headshot cover with a solid color and clean background. After learning the theoretical knowledge and skills of cover making, we started the classroom exercise. At first, my process was very slow due to my lack of proficiency, until I watched a lot of covers of Dazed and Bazaar magazines and got familiar with the cover styles of both, my production speed was improved.
