Session 10
This was my first time creating a fashion ad. Before that, my knowledge of fashion ads was only limited to what was shown in magazines, where the ads were mainly focused on promoting the latest seasonal items for major brands. Through this class I realized that fashion advertising is not only about showing the products, but I discovered that fashion advertising is about the style of the brand and what kind of potential customers it wants to attract. In the class, we first looked for some photos that we had taken before that could be used in the ad pages, and then analyzed the photos based on the style, the clothes and expressions of the people, and the scenes to see which brand posters were suitable for the photos. This is a difficult step for me because I can’t always connect to the brand through the photos first, so I tend to imagine some brands first, then go to the brand’s website or ins to find the brand’s poster style, and then filter if I have photos that match their qualities.
